Closure of Sonning bridge
Sonning Bridge will be closed for structural work and a traffic light upgrade for two weeks from the end of next month.
The closure will take place between 9.30am and 4pm starting on Monday, October 28, and running until Monday, November 12
Between Monday, November 4, and Thursday, November 7, additional work will be done – using pontoons beneath the bridge – to build protective barriers to prevent boats hitting the arches.
Wokingham Borough Council strategic planning and highways executive member Councillor Keith Baker said: “We are trying to give people as much notice as possible.”
Cllr Baker said the bridge would be kept open during rush hour and into the evening primarily to support local businesses like the Mill at Sonning theatre.
